Prayer & Fasting, week 1

Are we willing to deny ourselves to see others set free?

Traditionally, 40 days before Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement) begins a time of spiritual  preparation for the fall High Holy Days. We are going tofasting-breaks-chains spend these days focused on praying and fasting …for ourselves, for others, for our country!

I encourage you to make a commitment to the LORD on High. Select a 15-minute period that you’re committing to pray every day. Remember, every day your prayers will be joined with others who are also agreeing for breakthroughs.  (Matt 18:20: “For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst.”)

Are you willing to deny yourself? To set aside something that you really enjoy: a particular food? A TV show? What is it you’re willing to do without for these 40 days? (Matt 17:21 “But this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”) – please note: we encourage us all to give up something we enjoy, but not to give up anything that would cause us physical harm.

Are we willing to pray 15 minutes a day?

Our focus this week is on physical healing for ourselves and for our loved ones.

Here are a couple of great verses upon which to meditate:

  • “But unto you who revere and worshipfully fear My name shall the Sun of Righteousness arise with healing in His wings and His beams, and you shall go forth and gambol [run, jump about playfully] like calves [released] from the stall and leap for joy,” Malachi 4:2, Amplified. AMEN! This is our desire!
  • “He said, “If you listen carefully to the LORD your God and do what is right in His eyes, if you pay attention to His commands and keep all His decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you,” Exodus 15:26. NIV HALLELU-YAH! HE heals us!!!
  • “But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on Him, and by His wounds we are healed,” Isaiah 53:5, NIV. By His stripes We ARE healed!

I encourage you to enter this period with expectancy … our LORD is going to meet us!!!

“Mighty LORD, our God, help us to enter into this adventure with You with expectancy! We see much suffering around us – and we want to be Your arms extended. Help us to be faithful to this time of prayer and fasting which You have laid upon our hearts. Help us to be cognizant of Your leading during this times. Bless and heal the physical bodies! Heal our nation – bring Your peace to Jerusalem. In the holy Name of our Messiah Yeshua, we pray.”
