Elul 3: What is Elul?

Now, is the time to think about our relationship with the Creator.

Is our walk such that He can really use us??

Forty days before Yom Kippur, begin the Hebrew month of Elul. The month of Elul, which leads up to the fall Holy Days, is the season of reflection, repentance, and drawing closer to our LORD. Are we ready? Are we prepared to come face to face with our Creator?

Many of us began a fast on the first of Elul. We are asking the LORD for a breakthrough: a breakthrough for us, for our loved ones, for our country, for our congregation. Watch for little breakthroughs … He’s moving! (I encourage you to keep on keeping on … don’t let circumstances weaken your resolve to continue this fast.)

Are we ready?

A man received the best bill of health he gotten in 8 years! …two days later, he died…. Gives us something to think about, doesn’t it?

Are our walks such that our LORD can use us? Remember how young David slew the giant Goliath with only a small stone? Yes, God used a young boy to overcome a seemingly impossible circumstance. Why? Because David believed God.

Are we willing to believe God? Are we willing to put our own agendas aside & let His light shine through us?

Now, I’m going to give everyone a small stone.

PURPOSE: to serve as a reminder to get spiritually ready for Yom Kippur.

  • Please put this in your pocket.
  • Every day, pull it out and look at it as a reminder: are we getting ready for Yom Kippur. Is His light shining thru us today?

Please return your stone on Yom Kippur.

ACTION:  Each day, look at the stone. During Elul, this season of reflection, ponder “Where will we throw our stones so that we can impact the world for our LORD and Saviour?” Ponder: will my “stone” change the course of those around me?

PRAYER:

“What can we say to You, our sovereign LORD? Thank You!!! Thank You for loving us. Thank You for molding us into Your image. Help us to look to You and away from our own agendas – to Your agenda!!! We pray that You will create breakthroughs in Houston, in our country, in us, in our friends, in our congregation, in Israel. Bring Your divine peace to our country and to Israel. In Yeshua’s Name, we pray.”
