Words! What do we create?
Did you know that God has given us incredible power to create? We might respond with thinking “Oh, no! I’m not creative.” But we are – He has given us the power to encourage or to crush with our tongues. (Oxana Eliahu’s song “Words” wonderfully challenges us to consider the power of our words.)
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue,” Prov 18:21a, ASV.
A precious friend of mine was given an incredible report from her doctor … actually, it was miraculous! And, then a friend of hers challenged her salvation. WOW! Talk about crushing. Indeed, we have the power to create life or dismay in the hearts of those around us. We must get out of ourselves, our agendas, our preoccupation with our own issues. It is important that understand that He has us on earth at this time to be His emissaries, to bring forth His light.
“…the tongue is a small part of the body, …. The tongue also is a fire … It corrupts the whole body, sets the whole course of one’s life on fire,…. Jas 3:5-8, NIV
Think about a timely word someone has spoken to you. How did you feel afterward? Did it bless you? Or were you brought down?
“With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be,” James 3:9-10, NIV
Let us put our hectic lives on pause. And focus on what really counts: blessing our King of kings and His creations.
Prayer:
“Mighty God, You have been ever present and so real to us during these days – thank YOU! Help us to focus of blessing You and others with our words. Help us to be ever mindful of the impact of our actions. Be with the persecuted church –protect them. Give us Godly leaders in our own country. Bring Your peace to Jerusalem. We bless You, our King! In the holy name of our soon-coming Messiah, we ask these things.”
